Cousin Simple with Magnolia & Box Seats

  • This event has passed.

Columbus, OH natives Will Hoag, Ryan Ulibarri & Mitch Whittaker make up the indie alt-rock band Cousin Simple

Friends since 1st grade, front man Will Hoag and guitarist Ryan Ulibarri have been inseparable ever since. Mitch joined the crew in middle school and rounded out the trio with his rhythmic bass. Starting as a group of friends with a mutual interest in music, they spent many early mornings and late evening rehearsing in their parents’ garage. After being validated by their friends and family that the songs their 13-year-old selves were writing were “actually good”, the trio entered their first Battle of the Bands in Columbus, also their first ever public performance, and won.

Since then, Cousin Simple has brought their infectious spirit and high energy to every performance, selling out shows across the Midwest in Columbus, Cleveland, Chicago, and more. Drawing influence from bands like Cage the Elephant, Arctic Monkeys and Group Love; Cousin Simple has curated their own sound that has resonated with listeners across the world and has landed them playlists slots across multiple DSPs. At half a million streams, their best performing song, “Honeybee”, however is one that listeners have found organically.

Whether you encounter Cousin Simple live or over the waves of the internet, you’re sure to leave energized and ready to dance.

Box Seats are more than a young act. The Columbus-based indie rock band (Luke Ulibarri, Brendon Glynn, Patrick Lynch, Josh Ulibarri), who only started playing together in 2021, incite ingenuity in their music and live show. When Luke, Brendon, and Patrick crossed paths in highschool, Luke’s younger brother Josh seemed to be the only viable option to man the drums: this created an interesting dynamic. Although separated by two cities, their attachment to music cements their friendship. Fueled by a love of writing meaningful and catchy rock songs, Box Seats are inspired by a vast selection of genres and bands (Wallows, Sticky Fingers). Their first two singles, “Almost There” and “Old Friends,” received much acclaim locally, and the band’s ability to write captivating songs has not ceased. This results in memorable music by a group you truly haven’t heard before. Luke’s passion for writing compelling songs and appealing melodies matched with Brendon and Patrick’s unique yet unforgettable instrumentation blend to produce who this band is. Josh is there to back them up. Find us on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Apple Music, Spotify, and Twitter.
